Tux Manager

The Free Manager Project

The project

The purpose of this project is to create an hybrid between football manager games and a human simulation game like "The Sims". Indeed, classical manager games only focus on preparing match sheets, dealing players with other clubs, and watching the matchs at the end of a turn. We don't think that much improvements can be done in that field. So we want to take away from that kind of exclusively strategical game, to put the stress on human relationships in the club.

That's why we are working on a game that is nearer to a human simulation game. That means that the game player will have to move is character from his office to training pitch, phoning on the way to a player agent to discuss about a transfer, and finally talking with a young player to encourage him.

In our idea, the game player will be able to chose other functions than manager; he should also be a club president, a football player really playing his match, etc.

License and environment

The game will be released under the GNU General Pulic Licence and will run under Unix environments. Even if technical choices have not been settled, we are considering using Common Lisp as the programming language. Graphicaly speeking, certainly SDL.

Status

The system is huge. Modelizing it takes very very long time. We're still at this point now, and discussions are still opened: please feel free to subscribe to our mailing list.

The first application we made as a school project (very far from what we want to do know): see this old page.

Mailing list

If you want to take part in the project, please subscribe to the mailing list and introduce yourself. We'll be glad to explain you the details.
